To commemorate Rotary Literacy Month, our club held a children's book drive for Madison Crossing Elementary School. In addition to presenting Lower School librarian Mollie Gillespie and Middle School librarian Melissa Simpson with over 100 books, we gave them gift certificates from Yellow Dog Books in Madison and The Bookshelf in Ridgeland valued at $250 each. Ms. Gillespie and Mrs. Simpson spoke to our club about the challenges of stocking a library in a school that has only been open since January, 2007 |
